Have Standards

In which we learn about the how and the why of web publishing standards…

The HTML and CSS code that makes up this web site adheres to the standards published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), an organisation that develops and recommends open standards for the web.

It’s a lofty goal to be sure and a difficult one given the number of companies that have little or no interest in playing the standards game (you know who you are and you should all know better).

If you’re looking for a good book on the subject Designing with Web Standards by Jeffrey Zeldman made a huge difference to the way I make web sites.
